This Piece is about Fear. As the black male child matures, he realizes that the World sees him as a threat. He is puzzled by the cautious stare of Strangers he passes on the street, by the Aggressive + demeaning tone of his Teachers + the ever present threat of being unjustly incarcerated or murdered by Law Enforcement. He is hurt, but more so, he is terrified. His eyes express both horror + a plea for the recognition of his humanity- his basic right to exist without fear.
