Oluchi | Acrylic on Natural Paper [2015]

This is a painting of my niece. We often don’t recognize the inherent wisdom of children. Oluchi’s keen eyes express both curiosity + innocence. Yet her stare implies that she is looking past one’s physical self, into the depths of their being. This reveals the secret insight of children, which is shrouded by their inability to relay their thoughts + emotions in language.
